The Dyslexia Gift

At the root of dyslexia is a natural ability, a talent. Not all dyslexics are the same, but many possess special talents, which include:

  • Thinking mainly in pictures instead of words

  • Being highly intuitive and insightful

  • Thinking and perceiving multi-dimensionally using all senses

  • Curiosity about how things work

  • Being highly aware of their environment

  • Utilizing the brain’s ability to alter and create perceptions

  • Having vivid imaginations

It is estimated that as many as a third of all people are born with dyslexic talents. Of those, as many as half may experience marked difficulty in school.

The goal of the Davis Program is not to eliminate these talents. Instead, we show students how to gain control, and use their talents for academic success.
